News Examiner: School board OKs stadium land swap

GALLATIN — County and schools leaders considered a deal this week that would undo a decades-old agreement forcing indefinite ownership and maintenance of a White House football stadium on the city.

The Sumner County Board of Education approved the cross-county land swap with White House Tuesday, but it still needs an OK from the County Commission. The city of White House lies in both Sumner and Robertson counties.

The stadium deal made 22 years ago was tied to land near White House City Hall that had been used by the school system. When it was no longer needed by the school system, it was given in 1991 to the city. City leaders accepted it to use for municipal purposes, agreeing to the condition that they would indefinitely maintain a football stadium built with city tax dollars in Robertson County in the 1970s…READ MORE
