The final dressed rehearsal of the 2015 football preseason will be this Friday for all five Robertson County teams.
Games will start at 5 p.m. when Jo Byrns will take on Sycamore and will continue throughout the night, ending with Clarksville Academy and Ezell Harding that will kick off at 9:30 p.m.
The East Robertson Jamboree will feature seven games playing two quarters of football with a running clock in each quarter.
While most teams will run a vanilla offense and a basic defense, first year head coach Chad Broadrick wants to see a little more out of his East Robertson team in the jamboree.
“For us, I want us to play hard and go out there and compete,” Broadrick said. “I want to see a lot of electricity from our guys and I want us to show a little more than we saw against Heritage in our scrimmage.
“I want to see exactly how much progress we’ve been able to make in a week and a half and I think we’re capable of doing just that. I know it’s not easy to learn a new offense and defense in the same season, but that’s what we’re facing, so we might as well embrace it.”
Broadrick has had his hands full this preseason, but admitted he had a lot of help with the jamboree because he’s had to focus his full time and attention on the team.
“If it hadn’t been for our quarterback club, parents, Coach (Derek) Wix and Athletic Director Coach (Jeff) Chatman, I don’t know that I could’ve pulled this off,” Broadrick said. “Because they’ve stepped in and really pulled all this together, I’ve been able to focus on the team to try and get us ready for our first game.
“There’s a lot that goes into a jamboree like this, but I think what makes this jamboree so special is that the residents of Robertson County are so close. It seems like everyone knows everyone else no matter what school they go to. It wasn’t like that in Sumner County, but it’s something that I’ve really come to admire. This jamboree gives everyone the chance to see all our teams, and also gives people a chance to see some teams that some of us will play during the season. I think it’s a good field that will feature a lot of really good teams, and we’re excited to play Friday night.”
